I love this design, and I am glad to see that you fixed the perspective on Plus. The light logic is perfect--every shadow in the right place. This should be an outstanding deviation, but it pains me to say it is not so.

While the design, the perspective, the shadow positioning, the lineart may all be superb, there are some serious flaws with the colouring. First, the background is lamentable due to the lack of contrast of each part with the colouring of the character in the foreground. Plus is lost in the green part of the background, and the blue part of background, on first inspection, seems to be an extension of the shirt. The theory of using colours from your foreground design in your background is solid, but it is important for the foreground to maintain its distinction from the background. If you wanted to use this design theory, I would recommend using the skin or hair colour for the part of the background that is currently blue, and the silver of the zipper pull for the part of the background that is currently green.

Also, what happened to the shading colouring? In some parts--like the hair, the viewer's right arm, Plus' head, the zipper--the shading is ideal: smooth clean lines of colour separate the dark from the light. Then in other places--the viewer's right glove, the face, the shadow of the shirt overlapping the shorts, parts of the shirt itself, the thumb and wrist of the viewer's left glove--the shading is a pixillated line, very jagged and rough. Then in yet other parts, the shading aspires to be a soft graduation from light to dark: an effect that would work perfectly if not for the jagged squares and rectangles of colour that are dissimilar enough to the preceding colour to stand out as being jumpy. I advise you to A) Use a consistent shading style and B) if that style is the soft graduation, to amend the blockiness of that colour shift.

Finally, there is a white line between the blue and green sections of the background that, if intentional, appears to be an anti-aliasing error. If it is intentional, I recommend that you enlarge the line thickness and refine the edges. If it is not intentional, I recommend that you remove it, stat.

I apologize if my critique on this piece seems harsh. I really do like this design, and the light logic is impeccable. However, the flaws in the execution of the colouring seriously detract from the piece, and I highly recommend that you consider revising it and re-submitting it.

Thanks a lot for the critique. I actually just noticed the jagged area on Klo's shirt. Strange. Never saw it before until now. It might be because I'm on a different comptuer. I didn't catch this on my own.

No prob. I'm glad you didn't take it the wrong way. Brutally honest=me. And sometimes, that's a bad thing.
